Guided Shore Excursion Patmos, Monasteries and the Charming Chora
3.4 · 5 Reviews

Overview
Since 2010, we have guided cruise passengers through Patmos, the island where, according to Christian tradition, Saint John received the visions recorded in the Book of Revelation. This private shore excursion is planned around your ship’s schedule, from the moment your tender reaches Skala until you’re back at the port with time to spare. A licensed guide and all entrance tickets are included, so there are no queues or extra costs on the day. Your first stop is the Cave of the Apocalypse, a small sanctuary built into the hillside where pilgrims have come to pray for centuries. Your licensed guide explains the history and traditions of the site. From there, you continue up to the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian, founded in 1088. Its fortress walls protect frescoes, icons and a museum of manuscripts and religious treasures. End the visit in Chora, walking its whitewashed lanes and taking in views over the Aegean, before your driver returns you to Skala.
