Kurashiki Japanese Home Cooking Class at a Family Rice Farm

Overview
Discover Japanese home cooking at a family rice farm in Kurashiki with nearly 400 years of history. Your host, Chieko, welcomes you into her farmhouse and personally leads the class. No English-speaking guide accompanies the experience; Chieko uses simple English and gestures. The rice is grown by Chieko's family in their own fields. Their homemade mochi is made from glutinous rice grown on the same farm. In the Mochi Course, you cook dishes using this mochi rather than make mochi from scratch. Choose one course per booking: Onigiri, Mochi, Makizushi, Gyoza, or Hambagu (Japanese hamburger steak). Each has a different menu. Vegetarian and vegan options are available for Onigiri, Mochi, and Makizushi with advance notice. Gyoza and Hambagu do not offer these options. Enjoy seasonal ingredients, everyday Japanese cooking, and personal interaction with your farmer host in a real family home—not a cooking studio.
